Pan and rotate colour camera for sewer inspection and documentation The comparatively "skimpy" quality after the conversion of the analogue signal to a digital MPEG format has prompted us to think of solutions for improvement in this area. The analogue ROTA with its perfect image sensor, loss-free signal transmission through up to 600 metres of cable, and a video enhancement of the FBAS signal ensure a 100 % representation of the analogue resolution of about 720x576 lines. The result is a high-quality screen image and acceptable VCR quality, which is more than adequate for subsequent processing. Now with a PC and analogue converter boards, because memory optimisation by data compression has a negative impact on quality. For this reason we simply redesigned the camera to be completely DIGITAL. Our experiences with the HR Spherix, optical fibre transmission and a new, 5-megapixel digital sensor contributed to the development of this fantastic new camera, complemented by sleeve LEDs. The system is operated as usual by the inspector. The operator keeps records and uses the rotary swivel head for details. The difference however is that the images are not recorded in the vehicle, but down in the sewer, with a fantastic 5-megapixel camera. The live feed and individual frames are ideally displayed with TWIN-SCREEN technology.
The new digital inspection technology - offering high-resolution, GIS support, and optimised memory utilisation.
